An artist’s journey is alive thanks to his uncertainties Art is a perpetual questionning As, uncertainty keeps the artist searching for the truth and today’s truth maybe tomorrow’s lie
Work on paper - 2011 slowly and peacefully she raised then angrily advanced with arrogance and elegance she took everything in her way nothing could stop her during her ravaging descent she still showed her magnificent beauty that was our beloved river (inspired by real events)
The theme here is Flood. I tried to captivate the Brisbane Flood in 2011. The city had suffered a major flooding. While I was livingI two streets back from the river and fortunately quiet high in the suburb of Highgate Hill. During the flood, every day with my son and wife, we went to see the level of the river at the king tide time. The river was slowly and surely getting out of control and its bed. Majestic and with such a force, nothing could stop it from its way. I try to captivate the magical relationship between water and humans. Water has a magic and mesmerising effect on all of us. We sit in front of water and forget all our worries. We are all closely linked to water. The theme of water is a repeated source of an inspiration in my work. Without a doubt, sitting next to and looking at water makes me feel good. Water is a sort of cleansing for the soul. It washes away our worries like a therapy. In this work, the theme is “FLOOD”, and the idea came following the devastating 2011 Brisbane Floods. I lived in Highgate hill and very close to the river. I saw the river ravaging the city and creating a havoc on its way. Objects and belongings floated along this rapid and powerful river. Brown, advancing assertively and taking with her everything in her way. At night, the city had blacked out. The river reminded us all her power. My aim in this work is to show the river power!
The theme of “Water”. I try to captivate the magical relationship between water and humans. The water has this mesmerising effect on all of us. We sit in front of water, and here we are forgetting all our worries. We are all closely linked to water. The theme of water has been coming again and again as an inspiration in my work. Without a doubt, sitting next to and looking at water makes me feel good. Water is a sort of a soul. purifier. Water is life. Again, I don’t try to reproduce a figurative image of water but an allusion, a feeling and a sound. Art is a perception and not a perfect figurative reproduction!.
